Soundtrack 2

Soundtrack 1: Intense
Intense soundtrack will be needed to create a certain atmosphere in scenes. The intense music will draw the audience in and help them feel involved because the soundtrack will happen in scenes where our main character may get caught and when our main character is researching important information.

Music: Intense Music will play over the scenes, I am looking for this music to be created through a piano so it gives it a serious feel and isn’t too intense which can take away the realism of the scenes.

Foley: Foley will be needed in the scenes, footsteps to increase the intensity around our character to give that feeling of not knowing who is around or whether they will walk in on our character.

Live Sound: Live sound will be recorded to focus on vocal sound. Due to scenes mainly being inside background noises won’t be crowded but I feel this is more of a reason to make sure the vocals are clearly recorded on the day for editing.

Soundtrack 2: Dramatic
A dramatic soundtrack will be needed within movie. This will add more feeling to certain scenes therefore bringing the audience closer to the characters and what is happening within the scene.

Music: Slow and dramatic music, orchestral score will work well with this scene as they can create more feeling.
Foley: Pre recorded Foley sounds will be used to create realism within the scene, there won’t be much used, just the right sounds to go with the scenes.

Live Sound: Live sound will be recorded on the day of vocals, but for this soundtrack the vocals are important they are correct as they will be important to get feeling across, on top of this live sound of the surrounding area to add a real life and dramatic effect.

Soundtrack 3: Joyful
I will use a joyful soundtrack in some scenes of the film; this is because the film has scenes that contrast to the characters dark nature. This soundtrack will only be present in scenes that are set in the daytime of the film, to show the lighter side.
Music: A joyful score will be used to set the tone of these scenes, an acoustic guitar will be used to create this. This is because it helps make the scene feel a lot more lighter then the darker part of the film and help create the contrast between the two.

Foley & Live Sound: Foley will be used to create realism, for example people walking and whistling in the street, and a live sound of natural day sounds, will be recorded in a wooded area to get the sounds of wildlife to play like it is in a central area. This will all add in to that joyful soundtrack.

Soundtrack 4: Dark
I will use a dark soundtrack throughout the most part of the film, as it will set the tone for the main theme of the film. I will create this using the right music and sound effects to create a dark and eerie tone.

Music: I will not use much music to create this soundtrack, but in some places it will be needed, to do this I will need to find or create an ambient soundtrack to give it that dark feeling to the scene.

Foley: I will use Foley and SFX to create this soundtrack, wind blowing and loud footsteps are useful to create this and so I will create or find these sounds as well as others to help add to the dark and eerie soundtrack.
Live Sound: Live sound will be recorded on the day, mainly vocals, it is important these vocals are said correctly from our actors to sound dark rather than happy or anything to contrast them from the soundtrack.

SoundTrack

Audiences listen to soundtrack through films in some many different ways nowadays due to many things such as mobile streaming, surround sound, pirate films and cinema and there are many more. Obviously the best way to listen to soundtrack effectively will be to see a film in the cinema. Cinema's are set up in such a way sound reaches its audience the way the director intended it to, this because their high quality speakers placed in the right areas help deliver it across clearly and the environment in which a cinema is, the walls a curtain and padded so that sound doesn't echo and bounce around so different sounds are coming from every angle.
After this their is home cinema's which are very good for the surround sound cinema feel to it and have the added base feel to films also adding to the realism but what lacks here is the environment in which a home may be where sound can bounce off of walls, reach all around so it doesn't give that extra feel like a cinema.
There is also mobile streaming which is a brilliant way to watch films on the go but the main issue here is the environment around you, you could be walking down a street or on a train and the noises around you will interfere with what you're listening to therefore disrupting and taking away the effect the director wants you to feel.

Above is a 5 minute battle scene from the movie 300. In the first minute of this clip their is a lot of sound, both diegetic and non-diegetic. Diegetic is the sound the characters in the clip can hear as well as the audience and non-diegetic sound is sound only the audience can hear for example a soundtrack placed in to add feeling.

In the opening seconds of this scene we hear the diegetic sound of small rocks tumbling to the ground, a sound effect like this can be easily made, and this is called Foley effect. It can be created in a sound proof studio to focus on the sound by collecting rocks and record these rocks falling down larger rocks or objects that can create the same sound. These rocks tumbling helps the audience feel like they are their and adds realism to the scene.
Soon after this we get our non-diegetic sound playing over the scene. This is created in a studio using software like Logic to create the music you may want for the soundtrack of the movie. This particular soundtrack is slow with an orchestra type feel to it to add drama to the scene building up, It also add some adrenaline to the scene for whats to come.
As the army runs we hear the grunts of all the soldiers. This can be recorded outside like foley, by getting recording equipment and then gathering a large crowd of people and simply recording the ground cheering out to give it the real effect of there being loads of people at once.
Finally throughout the scene we hear the metal of the armour crashing together. This can be filmed in a studio by getting metal objects and hitting them together to create the metal banging sound, this adds realism to the scene also.

Jim, 19 Years old, Art Student, Tall and slim. (Played by Robert Dunsden)
Aaron, 24 Years old, Drug Dealer, Tall. (Played by Reggie Menzies)

Locations
I will use the Southend area to film my outside scenes. Also I will use two different homes located in Wickford and Canvey Island. Me and my crew will be getting to these locations by Car and Walking where needed.

Additional Material
Alongside my FMP I will also make a Making Of documentary of the film showing how the movie was made with interviews with people in the film.

Target Audience
My target audience will be the Male gender with an age of 20-28, British.

Technical Strategies
I am shooting my short film using a DSLR canon 600D with a use of a tripod where needed for certain shots. My sound will be recorded with a Rode clip mic attached to the DSLR. If some sounds come out wrong in post production then it will be re shot or re recorded at a later time. Throughout my film their is a voiceover, which will be recorded on a sony zoom recorder. I intend on making some colour corrections on all the clips to make them more crisp and slightly darker and due to some night scenes I will film on a overcast day and using colour correction make these scenes appear like they are night. All these roles of pre-production, production and post production will be done by myself.

Timescale
I will be shooting from 4th of April I aim to have all the shooting finished by May 3rd. Due to locations being fairly close by it should be an easy accomplishment to make. My budget for the movie is £50 this will cover travel costs and costume designs and props.

After Effects Match Moving

The job is to get the girl in the first image ad make the green screen disappear making the camera pan around her on a gravel floor rather then this green room. To begin I first used the 'Roto Brush' tool and click around the girl like the image here. What this looks like after is the image below with the purple outline around her showing it has picked her up.

After this I dragged the work area so it follows her throughout the whole clip rather then the first few seconds and then click the freeze option to save the keying selection.  After this I need to key her out by searching the invert effect and applying it to the girl. Grab the Invert channel and change this from RGB to Alpha

After all this I need to add a 3D camera to the girl. I searched for the camera and then added this to the girl/dolly this then analysed the area and found the points on green screen. After this I selected the points around the girls feet like in the image creating a floor around her. After this I right clicked the area selected and chose create Null and Camera.

After I created a new black solid and then added a grid to it. and Parented this to the null object that was made in the previous image so it stays around her feet like the image below. Then expanded it to the size I want the floor. After this I found the effect Keylight 1.2 and the found the option in Keylight called screen colour click the option and then click the green background making it disappear and then click the FX button so the girl reappears.

After this I imported the gravel like the one below and made it 3D and like the grid I parented it to the Null so it becomes the floor around the girls feet. and the move the girl to the top of the composition so she is on top of everything. and Finally added a light a parented it to the 3D camera so it follows the girl around.

After Effects Colour Grading

In this first clip the image looks pretty good but when put in colour finesse and changed the Gamma, Pedestal and Gain the image came out a lot more crisp.
In the second clip the image had a lot more blue in the image so the first thing that needed changing was the Gamma of the blue to make it even with the reds and greens and then just expand the Pedestal and Gain of all the RGB so they're all even and spread out to create a better image.

In the final image it looked yellow and on the Colour Finesse all the RGB's where scattered so the the pedestal needed to be changed them to make them even and then changed the gain and gamma of each RGB so they're spread from the 100 mark to the 0 mark like in the image below to get the image quality perfect.

Dexter – The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) gave the series Dexter a 9.1/10

The 8 series programme is one of the most highly rated series to date and received excellent reviews and has been a very successful series.

Dexter is the most similar to my FMP, the idea of a serial killer, killing killers was from this but being set in different locations, younger cast and different path they have their differences. The structure is very much the same with bright scenes contrasted with darkness in murder scenes.

Se7en – The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) gave the film Se7en a 8.7/10

It had an estimated budget of $33 million and worldwide has grossed $313 million dollars making it a very successful film.

Se7en sticks to the traditional partnered cops chasing a villain which has its differences to my FMP as their is no cops and no one chasing after my villain even though he is killing serial killers he is still committing a terrible crime doing so, but the structure of Se7en being very dark lit like film noir is something i am going for.

The Bone Collector – The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) gave the film a 6.6 which is a fairly average rating for a film with high expectations.

It had an estimated budget of $48 million and grossed $66 million as of the year 2000 in the US so in box office it made back its money and more which makes it  an fairly successful film.

The Bone Collector is a lot like se7en cops chasing a killer , which is why it differs but also a lot like se7en it is darkly lit like a film noir genre which is what i want my film to look like and has a freaky murder which is what i want my villain/hero to be like. it also has a lot of tense scenes which i like in these genres to keep audience interested.

Identity – The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) gave the film a rating of 7.7 which for a film of its calibre is a good rating.

It had a budget of $30 million dollars and worldwide has grossed over $90 million dollars making the film a success in the box office. On its opening weekend in the US the film grossed $16 million

Again like the last to films the film Identity is mainly set at night time and uses a lot of rain very similar to Se7en, rain is not something i will want but the dark lighting i am interested in. The murders in this are also knife inflicted and show a lot of blood stained shirts which is typical of a crime.

The Silence Of The Lambs – The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) gave the film a rating of 8.6 which is very high for a movie.

The film had a budget of $19 million and as of 2012 the film has worldwide grossed just over $130 million, making it a very successful film. It made $13 million in the US on its opening weekend nearly making its budget back making it very successful in the box office.

Silence of the lambs is probably the most different to the rest its more drama based then crime with a very mysterious and freaky villain which i want mine to be like.
